HGA IT&T are currently testing the use of WiFi integrated with a 3G network to create a functional 4G network. With testing commencing well over 2 months ago the quality of VoIP calls between WiFi enabled mobile devices is of the highest standard. 4G networks are able to roam between the 3G network and WiFi networks. When not in range of a Wireless AP the 3G network will be used. The ability to broadcast secure wireless networks over a substantial distance is the main roadblock involved in creating a 4G network. The aim of the 4G network is to be able to use a single AP to connect to Internet, Telecoms, Mobile Services and even Digital Television. The aim is to eliminate the need for telephone lines in your house, 1 antenna will supply your house with all your communication and data needs. We plan to be testing a new 4G network within the next 6 months which will include a WiFi network and our own 3G network. We are currently expirementing with creating a "Media Center PC" which can be configured to be used within a large network or as a standalone machine. After weeks of research and finding the right parts for the job, a model box has been built and is currently being tested. The Media box is able to integrate with our VoIP service, recieve news feeds and weather forcasts, record and stream HDTV media and also does video conferencing.
We hope to have a fully working Media box working before the end of the month. We will have 2 designs, a standalone Media box and a Media box which will connect to a "Media Server"
